Leslie Gulch Hike

  • 8 Oct 2017
  • 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Meet at Winco, Meridan Rd at I-84

Vilate and I are heading to Leslie Gulch this Sunday, 10/8. We plan to hike Juniper Gulch and then loop over the saddle and, hopefully, see some wild horses or bighorn sheep. We'll probably return to the cars via a trail down another gulch. There will be some cross country hiking involved. Hiking poles and good shoes/boots are recommended.

This will be an all day trip. It's about a 2 to 2 1/2 hour drive each way. Leslie Gulch is near the Owyhee Reservoir, just over the Oregon state line. The last 25 miles are on good dirt road. The hike will be around 6 miles with lots of time to look at the fabulous geologic formations. We're often done with the hike around 4:00-4:30, but no promises. It could be later.

We'll meet to carpool at the Winco on Meridian Rd and I-84 at 8AM. Bring water for the day, lunch and snacks, layered clothes, sunscreen, and rain gear for the "just in case". Let me know if you're coming so I can contact you about any last minute changes. The trip will be weather dependent. Depending on timing some people may want to stop for dinner on the way back. I'll leave that up to each carpooling group.
